Burglary at a food bank in Mansfield
Break-in at Ladybrook Friends Foodshare
According to an article published by the BBC on 31 December 2025, a food bank in Mansfield was targeted by burglars over the Christmas period. Staff at the Ladybrook Friends Foodshare discovered that a fire extinguisher had been used to smash a hole in a wall to gain entry to the store.
The BBC reports that the incident occurred between 24 and 26 December. Volunteers found that at least four bags of food, along with items such as games, were stolen from the centre located at Brookside Hall. Upon investigation, staff discovered that the intruder had used a microwave on the premises to heat up food, including soup, beans, and sausages.
While the volunteers expressed disappointment regarding the break-in, they noted that they would have provided assistance had the individual asked for help. Nottinghamshire Police are currently investigating the burglary and have appealed for anyone with relevant information to come forward. Despite the theft, staff expect to restock the facility in time for their first session in January thanks to support from donors.
Ensure your business premises are properly secured with appropriate alarm systems and reinforced entry points to deter unauthorized access.
