According to an article published by the BBC on 29 August 2025, Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating a theft at the Clare Mason Studio on Chapel Street, Penzance. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 5 August, when two men entered the shop and removed a glass display cabinet containing 16 handmade gold rings set with precious stones.

The BBC reports that the suspects fled the scene towards the Wharfside area via Chapel Street and Abbey Slip. While six of the stolen rings were recovered after being dropped in nearby streets, the remaining items are still missing. PC Gabe Abbott described the incident as a brazen theft in broad daylight and confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Authorities have released images of the two men and are urging anyone with information to contact the police. Traders and second-hand dealers are specifically asked to remain vigilant if offered these distinctive items for sale.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that high-value display cabinets are securely anchored to the floor or counter to prevent unauthorized removal.
