Break-in at Mansfield fast food restaurant

According to an article published on 24 April 2024 by the Mirror, a burglary occurred at a McDonald's restaurant in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. CCTV footage captured 24-year-old Scott Goulding smashing a window at the premises in the early hours of 4 January. The footage shows the individual climbing through the broken window of the drive-thru area and fleeing the scene with a bag of food.

The break-in was discovered the following morning by restaurant staff. Following a subsequent incident involving arson at a residential flat two days later, Goulding was arrested and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court. Mirror reports that he pleaded guilty to both burglary and arson and was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. Detective Constable Kate Hardy of Nottinghamshire Police noted that the force takes business break-ins seriously due to the significant impact such incidents have on staff members who arrive to find their workplace compromised.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that all entry points are properly secured and that alarm systems are regularly tested to deter unauthorized access.
