Break-in at Bildeston Village Stores

According to an article published by the BBC on 26 February 2026, a burglar broke into the Bildeston Village Stores and Post Office in Suffolk. The incident occurred at approximately 04:20 GMT on a Thursday.

The BBC reports that the individual used a hammer and force to smash through the front door's glass window. The shop's owner, Philip Alcoe, who resides above the premises, was alerted by the alarm and his dogs. The burglar fled the scene after stealing a bottle of brandy. According to the owner, the damage caused to the door is estimated at £500.

Suffolk Police attended the scene and have launched an investigation into the matter. The owner noted that this incident follows a previous burglary at the same location in February 2024. Authorities are currently urging anyone with information regarding the event to contact them.
