Residential burglary reported in Chelmsford

According to an article published by Thesun on 8 August 2025, a former Manchester United player, Demetri Mitchell, was the victim of a burglary at his home in Chelmsford. The 28-year-old athlete, who recently moved to the area to join Leyton Orient, reported that intruders entered his property while he was sleeping.

Thesun reports that the burglars successfully located and stole the keys to Mitchell's BMW 220. The vehicle, which was packed with possessions as the footballer was in the process of moving from Manchester, was subsequently driven away. According to the victim, the car contained several high-value items, including a laptop, a phone, and designer bags. Mitchell noted that some of his belongings were later recovered at a nearby location, though his laptop, which contained important business documents, remains missing.

The former defender has appealed for information regarding the theft of his vehicle. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Ensure all doors and windows are securely locked at night and consider installing a home security system to deter unauthorized entry.
