Supermarket burglary in Nottingham
According to an article published on 22 February 2025, a man was arrested following a burglary at a Sainsburyโs Local store in Radford, Nottingham. Thesun reports that the incident occurred early on 21 February.
CCTV footage released by Nottinghamshire Police shows a suspect attempting to enter the premises by lowering himself through the ceiling. The individual became stuck during the process, causing debris to fall and knocking items off nearby shelves before eventually dropping to the floor. The suspect then proceeded to steal approximately ยฃ200 worth of National Lottery scratch cards from behind the counter.
Sainsburyโs staff contacted emergency services at 6:10 a.m. after discovering the intruder. Police arrived within six minutes and apprehended a 50-year-old man in a nearby street who matched the description of the suspect. He was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of burglary. Inspector Liz Gaskin confirmed that the store was closed at the time and no members of the public were present during the incident.
Business owners are encouraged to regularly inspect roof access points and reinforce ceiling security to prevent unauthorized entry.
