Burglary at a trading card shop in Peterborough

Significant theft reported at Peterborough card shop

According to an article published on 8 February 2026 by CambridgeshireLive, a specialist trading card shop in Peterborough has been targeted in a major burglary. The owner, Juliano Scibelli, reported that ยฃ80,000 worth of stock was stolen during a night-time raid, with the total financial impact potentially exceeding ยฃ100,000.

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed that the burglary occurred between 6pm on 27 January and 9am the following day. The perpetrator reportedly gained entry by smashing through a glass door and specifically targeted high-value Pokรฉmon, Magic, Lorcana, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh, and sports cards, while leaving behind lower-value items. Mr. Scibelli noted that detectives indicated such incidents involving trading card businesses are becoming increasingly common, as these shops are often perceived as having lighter security than traditional jewellers.

The owner stated that the theft has had a devastating effect on his business, which he has operated for 15 years. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing as the business owner assesses the future of the shop.

Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures, including the installation of robust alarm systems and reinforced entry points, to better protect high-value inventory.
