Burglary at a veteran's residence in Swansea
Residential burglary involving fellow veterans in Swansea
According to an article published on 5 June 2024 by Walesonline, a former serviceman has been convicted of burgling the flat of a friend and fellow military veteran. The incident took place at a residential building in Bernard Street, located in the Uplands area of Swansea, which provides housing for veterans.
Walesonline reports that the defendant, Daniel Morris, stole tools and jewellery of significant sentimental value from his victim's home to fund his purchase of drugs. The theft was discovered when the victim visited a local second-hand shop and identified his stolen property displayed in the window. The shop manager confirmed that Morris had pawned the items over several weeks.
During the proceedings at Swansea Crown Court, the judge described the actions as "mean" offences against an individual to whom the defendant should have shown compassion. While some of the stolen items were recovered and returned to their owners, others remained missing.
Ensure your home remains secure by keeping valuables in a locked safe and reporting any suspicious activity in communal residential areas to the authorities.
