Burglary at a Vodafone shop in Lowestoft
Security measures tightened at Lowestoft mobile phone shop
According to an article published on 8 August 2025 by Independent, a Vodafone shop in Lowestoft, Suffolk, has been forced to adopt a locked-door policy during opening hours. This measure follows a robbery that occurred on 3 July, during which a group of balaclava-clad thieves stole a large quantity of mobile phones.
Independent reports that Suffolk Police were called to the London Road North premises shortly before 3.40pm on the day of the incident. Four individualsโtwo 16-year-old boys, a 22-year-old woman, and a 22-year-old manโhave since been charged with robbery in connection to the event.
Vodafone stated that the sector is experiencing an alarming surge in aggressive robberies, noting a nine-times increase in such incidents across its stores. The company confirmed that the new safety protocols are a necessary step to ensure the protection of both customers and employees. The retailer is currently working with police and government authorities to address the growing issue of store security.
Businesses are encouraged to review their security protocols and access control measures to better protect staff and inventory.
