According to an article published by Countytimes on 25 August 2025, three men were sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court for a late-night burglary at an Asda Express petrol station in Crickhowell. The incident occurred on March 10, when Jamie Williams, 42, and Stephen Howells, 30, wearing balaclavas, targeted the 24-hour facility.

Countytimes reports that the men gained entry by shattering a door panel, subsequently stealing vapes, cigarettes, and bottles of vodka valued at £981. A third man, James Young, 31, acted as the driver. Following the raid, the group led police on a pursuit, during which they rammed a police vehicle before eventually crashing in Ebbw Vale. The defendants were later apprehended by officers.

Prosecutor Harry Dickens noted that the petrol station had been targeted six times during March 2025, resulting in total losses estimated between £3,000 and £4,000. All three men have since been sentenced for their involvement in the crimes.

Business owners are encouraged to reinforce entry points and ensure high-value stock is secured in reinforced cabinets to deter smash and grab attempts.
