Burglary at Bildeston Village Stores and Post Office

Break-in reported at Bildeston post office

According to an article published by the BBC on 26 February 2026, a hammer-wielding burglar broke into the Bildeston Village Stores and Post Office in Suffolk. The incident occurred at approximately 04:20 GMT on Thursday.

The BBC reports that the intruder smashed the front door's glass window after an initial failed attempt to break through the front window. The shop's owner, who lives above the premises, was alerted by the alarm and his dogs, causing the suspect to flee the scene with a bottle of brandy. Suffolk Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which resulted in an estimated £500 in damage to the property.

The shop owner noted that this event follows a previous burglary at the same location in February 2024. Authorities are currently seeking information from the public regarding the break-in. Business owners are encouraged to regularly inspect and reinforce their entry points to deter unauthorized access.
