Burglary at Harburn Golf Club in West Calder

Trophies stolen from West Calder golf club

According to an article published on 3 February 2026, Harburn Golf Club near West Calder was broken into during the early hours of Monday, 2 February 2026. Deadlinenews reports that the burglars gained access to the clubhouse at approximately 2:10am by smashing a window.

Once inside, the intruders damaged display cabinets to steal several trophies. While the suspects may have targeted the items believing them to be made of silver, club members noted that most are constructed from pewter. Staff and members discovered the scene later that morning, expressing significant distress over the loss of items that are considered irreplaceable and hold over 90 years of history.

Police Scotland confirmed that officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, but the suspects had already fled. Enquiries into the burglary are currently ongoing. The club is urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity near Harburn Lane on Sunday or Monday, or who receives information regarding trophies being offered for sale, to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

Business owners are encouraged to regularly review and upgrade their security systems, including alarms and reinforced display storage, to protect high-value or sentimental assets.
