Theft of historic trophies at Teignmouth Golf Club

According to an article published by Torbayweekly on 9 April 2025, Teignmouth Golf Club was targeted in a smash and grab burglary. The incident, which occurred on the night of Wednesday, 2 April, was captured on the club's CCTV system.

The footage shows two hooded individuals breaking into the premises and clearing a trophy cabinet within minutes. The suspects reportedly fled the scene with between 30 and 40 trophies stored in a builder's dumpy bag, potentially assisted by a waiting vehicle. While the items are of immense sentimental value to the club’s 750 members, with some pieces dating back nearly 100 years, they hold little monetary worth.

General manager Martin Hucklesby stated that the club has been deeply affected by the loss of these historic items. An audit is currently underway to confirm the full extent of the theft.
