Burglary at the Perch and Pike pub in South Stoke
According to an article published on 8 April 2026 by Henleystandard, a chef has criticised Thames Valley Police for failing to visit the Perch and Pike pub in South Stoke following a burglary. Richard Keep, who runs the establishment, reported that approximately £250 in cash was stolen during the early hours of 25 March.
Henleystandard reports that the intruders gained access by tearing a security light off the side entrance and using a crowbar to force the door. The entire till system was removed during the incident, which occurred while staff and the owner’s family were sleeping on the premises. Mr Keep stated that the incident was reported to the police at 9am the following day, but he was only provided with a crime reference number. Thames Valley Police confirmed that no arrests have been made and the case is currently filed pending further information.
Following the event, the business has installed a new security system and is transitioning to a cashless operation to improve safety. Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures and ensure that cash handling procedures are kept to a minimum.
