Burglary at Weymouth Post Office

Burglary at Weymouth Post Office

According to an article published on 6 December 2024 by Dorsetecho, a burglary occurred at the central post office located on St Thomas Street in Weymouth. Dorsetecho reports that thieves gained access to the premises by crossing roofs and smashing a rear window before drilling into safes.

Dorsetecho states that up to £20,000 may have been stolen during the incident. Postmaster Liam Searle discovered the break-in on the morning of Thursday, 5 December. Dorset Police confirmed they received a report of the commercial burglary at 8.34am that day. While the post office section of the branch was closed for two days following the event, the front shop area remained open. No arrests have been made, and police enquiries are currently ongoing.

Business owners are encouraged to regularly review and upgrade their security systems, particularly in areas vulnerable to roof access.
