Attempted burglary leads to arrest in Worksop

According to an article published on 4 August 2025 by Metro, a 42-year-old man has been sentenced to two years and 11 months in prison following a burglary attempt at a private home in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The incident occurred on 23 March 2025, when the intruder entered the property and woke the residents at 8:00 a.m.

Metro reports that the suspect, identified as Ashley Whitehouse, engaged in an altercation with the homeowners before fleeing the scene. During his escape, he threw rocks and a paving slab at the victims and assaulted the male resident with a stick. The intruder left behind a mobile phone and was filmed staring directly into a Ring doorbell camera. He was arrested at his own home two hours later, during which time he headbutted a police officer.

Although the perpetrator managed to steal a purse containing a bank card, he was quickly identified and apprehended by Nottinghamshire Police. The victims were left shaken by the violent confrontation within their home.
