Burnley Man Jailed for Deplorable Burglary at Hospice Charity Shop as Bank of Dave Steps In

A Burnley man has been jailed after breaking into the Pendleside Hospice charity shop and stealing cash and stock valued at approximately £1,000, which was intended to fund critical end-of-life care for local patients.

The burglary, described by authorities and residents as 'deplorable,' targeted the shop on Cog Lane. Following a police investigation, the perpetrator was arrested, prosecuted, and sentenced to prison.

However, the local community rallied in the wake of the theft, with local businessman David Fishwick—famous for his 'Bank of Dave' initiative—stepping in with a generous act of kindness. His donation and support went viral on social media, helping the charity recover its losses. Hospice staff expressed their deep gratitude for the community's support.
