Arson and burglary incident in Bradford
According to an article published by Thetelegraphandargus on 11 March 2026, a man has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison following a series of criminal acts against local businesses in Bradford. Mohammed Mobasher was found guilty of arson, burglary, and perverting the course of justice.
Thetelegraphandargus reports that Mobasher broke into the Bradford Tile Centre on Thornton Road, stealing cash before returning to the premises to set a fire using an accelerant. This deliberate attack resulted in approximately ยฃ30,000 worth of damage to the building. The incident required the attendance of five fire crews and the closure of a local road.
The court further heard that four months later, while on bail, Mobasher committed a second burglary at a takeaway, where he stole cash and charity boxes. Evidence presented during the trial, including CCTV footage and DNA samples, led to his conviction at Bradford Crown Court. Judge Ahmed Nadim described the arson as a serious and deliberate attack on a local business.
Business owners are encouraged to ensure their premises are equipped with monitored alarm systems and high-quality CCTV to deter and detect unauthorized access.
