According to an article published by Dailyrecord on 26 January 2026, a cafe located at the Loganlea Fishery near Penicuik was targeted by a group of intruders. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, 24 January.
Dailyrecord reports that three individuals dressed in black, wearing hoods and balaclavas, were captured on CCTV footage shortly after 3:10 p.m. The suspects reportedly tore down external security cameras before gaining entry to the cabin through a kitchen window. Once inside, the group removed an internal camera.
According to the business owners, the intruders did not take items of significant financial value or cash. Instead, the group stole a quantity of snacks and drinks, leaving behind a trail of Pringles and sweet wrappers as they fled toward the nearby hills. The owners noted that the incident caused significant inconvenience to the business. Police Scotland has been approached for comment regarding the investigation.
Business owners are encouraged to ensure that all entry points, including kitchen windows, are reinforced and that security systems are regularly maintained to deter unauthorized access.
