Cash machine stolen from Tesco Express in Thorpe Marriott

Ram-raiders target Thorpe Marriott supermarket

According to an article published by Eveningnews24 on 20 January 2026, a supermarket in Thorpe Marriott was targeted by ram-raiders. Police were called to the Tesco Express store located in The Square shortly before 2.25am on Tuesday, January 19, after suspects used a stolen JCB to remove a cash machine from the building's wall.

Eveningnews24 reports that the suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle, leaving the JCB behind in the car park. The incident caused severe damage to the structure, leaving the store's interior visible through the damaged wall. A Tesco spokesperson confirmed that the branch is currently closed and that the company is working to reopen the site.

Norfolk police are requesting that anyone with information, dashcam footage, or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area contact them by calling 101 and quoting reference number 36/4450/26.

Business owners are encouraged to review their site security measures and ensure that external perimeters are reinforced against vehicle-based intrusion attempts.
