Cash machine stolen in ram-raid at Leek supermarket

ATM stolen during ram-raid in Leek

According to an article published by Stokesentinel on 29 January 2026, police are investigating a ram-raid at an Asda supermarket located on Springfield Road in Leek. The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 am, with the alarm raised at 1:20 am.

Stokesentinel reports that burglars used plant machinery to target and remove the store's cash machine. The suspects subsequently fled the scene in two Nissan pickups. Authorities confirmed that the telehandler and both pickup trucks involved in the crime had been reported stolen on January 27 and 28. The two Nissan vehicles were later discovered burnt out on Tongue Lane in Brown Edge at approximately 2:15 am.

This incident follows a similar ram-raid at a Co-op in Kidsgrove earlier this month, though it is not yet known if the two crimes are connected. Staffordshire Police are currently appealing for witnesses and requesting that anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage contact them. Information can be provided by calling 101, quoting incident number 34 of January 29, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

Businesses are encouraged to review their security measures, including the use of bollards and reinforced barriers, to deter unauthorized vehicle access.
