According to an article published on 20 March 2026 by Northwalesdailypost, five individuals have been sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court for the theft of cattle from a farm on the outskirts of Llanerchymedd. The burglary occurred on the night of December 10, 2022.
Northwalesdailypost reports that the perpetrators traveled in a convoy from England, using the A55 to reach the remote farm. The owners discovered the theft the following morning after finding a gate off its hinges and a shed left open. A total of 14 cows were reported missing from the property.
Following an investigation involving CCTV and traffic camera footage, police tracked the animals to a farm in Stoke-on-Trent. The victims were able to identify their livestock, a fact later confirmed through DNA testing. Stanley Jones, Michael McLeod, Jack Billington, and Liam Kettleborough were sentenced after admitting to conspiracy to commit burglary. Clifford Smith was sentenced for handling stolen goods.
Ensure that all access points to livestock enclosures and storage facilities are properly secured and monitored to deter unauthorized entry.
