Chicago Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Armed Gas Station Robbery and High-Speed Chase
CHICAGO โ Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that a Chicago man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in a violent armed robbery at a local gas station, which culminated in a dangerous high-speed chase through city streets.
According to court documents and testimony, the defendant entered the gas station convenience store armed with a handgun, threatening employees and demanding cash from the register. After obtaining the money, he fled the scene in a vehicle. Chicago police officers spotted the suspect vehicle shortly after the robbery, leading to a high-speed pursuit that spanned multiple neighborhoods.
During the chase, the suspect drove recklessly, running red lights and endangering pedestrians and other motorists before finally losing control and crashing. Officers apprehended him at the crash site and recovered the stolen funds alongside the firearm used in the crime.
In addition to the 25-year prison term, the judge ordered the defendant to serve a period of supervised release following his incarceration. The U.S. Attorney's Office emphasized that violent crimes involving firearms remain a top priority for federal law enforcement in the Chicago metropolitan area.
