Close Shave for Bungling Burglar as Mansfield Barber Catches Him in the Act on Ring Doorbell

MANSFIELD — A Mansfield barber has described a 'close shave' after catching a bungling burglar in the act via his smart home security system.

The shop owner was alerted in the middle of the night by a motion notification from his Ring doorbell camera installed at the front of his salon. Opening the live feed on his smartphone, he was shocked to see a masked intruder attempting to force entry through the front door of the business.

The owner immediately utilized the camera's two-way audio feature to shout at the suspect, startling the intruder and forcing him to abandon the break-in. Police were dispatched to the scene, and the high-definition video footage was passed on to investigators to help identify the perpetrator. The barber spoke of his relief that the security system functioned perfectly, preventing significant damage and loss to his local business.
