CMPD Identifies Man Found Dead in Northwest Charlotte Home

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Homicide detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) are investigating after a man was discovered deceased inside a home in northwest Charlotte. Authorities have officially released the victim's identity as they seek information from the public to piece together the events leading to his death.

Officers were dispatched to a residence located in the block of Florentine Way, situated in the northwestern sector of the city, to conduct a welfare check or respond to a report of an unresponsive individual. Upon entering the home, police officers located the body of a man. Emergency medical services arrived shortly after and officially pronounced the individual deceased at the scene.

The CMPD has since identified the deceased man and classified the case as a death investigation, with homicide detectives leading the inquiry to rule out or confirm foul play. Crime scene investigators spent several hours at the Florentine Way address, documenting the scene and gathering physical evidence. Medical examiners are expected to perform an autopsy to establish the exact cause and manner of death.
