Recent commercial burglaries in Newquay

According to an article published on 11 January 2025, Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating a series of break-ins targeting commercial premises in the Newquay area. Authorities are currently determining whether these incidents are linked.

According to Portsmouth, a burglary occurred at the Westways Filling Station in Tregaswith on 6 January. Two suspects forced entry to the premises and stole cigarettes, tobacco, and alcohol. CCTV footage shows the individuals ransacking the shop and placing goods into black plastic bags, leaving the owners with significant financial losses.

Additionally, police reported a break-in at a Spar shop in Quintrell Downs shortly after 3am on 5 January, where suspects forced entry and stole cigarettes. An attempted break-in was also reported at a Spar location on Tower Road, Newquay, occurring overnight between 4 January and 5 January, though no entry was gained. Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing, and police have requested that anyone with information contact them quoting reference 50250002806.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that security systems, including alarms and CCTV, are regularly tested and fully operational.
