Customer Robbed at Gunpoint While Dining at Uptown Pizzeria
CHICAGO โ Chicago police are investigating a brazen armed robbery that targeted a dining customer inside a popular Uptown restaurant. The incident occurred on February 19, 2025, raising safety concerns among local business owners and residents in the North Side neighborhood.
According to authorities, the victim was eating inside Sarpino's Pizzeria, located at the intersection of Montrose Avenue and Clark Street, when an unidentified individual walked into the establishment. The suspect approached the customer, pulled out a handgun, and demanded their personal belongings.
Fearing for their safety, the customer complied and surrendered their valuables to the armed offender. The suspect then quickly fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported during the encounter, though the victim was reportedly left shaken by the ordeal.
Chicago police officers responded to the restaurant shortly after the incident was reported. Officers secured the scene and began interviewing witnesses and staff members. Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance video footage from both the restaurant's security system and neighboring storefronts along Clark Street to obtain a description of the perpetrator.
As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody. Area Three Detectives are leading the ongoing investigation. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area of Montrose and Clark around the time of the robbery to contact the Chicago Police Department or submit an anonymous tip online.
