Daytona Beach Jewelry Store Owner Slain, Elderly Attacker Wounded in Shootout

DAYTONA BEACH, FL — A confrontation at a local jewelry store ended in tragedy on Friday when the store owner was fatally shot, and the 83-year-old attacker was wounded in the exchange, according to police officials.

The Daytona Beach Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the business. Upon arrival, officers found the store owner suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter, identified as an 83-year-old man, was also found at the location with gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators are working to establish a motive behind the shooting and determine if there was a previous relationship between the suspect and the store owner.
