Derby delivery driver peeked through windows and tried door handles in break-in plot

Derby residents are being urged to review their home security after a delivery driver was implicated in a suspected break-in plot, having been caught on home surveillance cameras peeking through windows and testing the handles of front doors.

The alarming behaviour came to light when a homeowner noticed suspicious activity on their smart doorbell camera and decided to review the recorded footage. The video showed a courier, who had arrived in the neighborhood to deliver packages, walking up to several properties. Instead of simply leaving packages or ringing the bell, the individual was seen peering through windows and systematically trying door handles to see if they were unlocked.

The footage was shared with Derbyshire Police, who have since launched a formal investigation into the driver's actions. Authorities are working closely with the delivery company to verify the driver's identity and determine if any properties were successfully breached. Homeowners in Derby are being reminded to keep their doors and windows locked at all times, even when they are inside their homes, to deter opportunistic thieves.
