Derry Man Refused Bail Following Spree of Restaurant and Church Hall Burglaries

A Derry man has been refused bail after appearing before a local court in connection with a multi-site burglary spree across the city. The charges include break-ins at several local establishments, including a prominent church hall and popular eateries.

Among the targeted businesses was Guapo, a well-known Mexican restaurant in Derry, alongside seven other food and beverage premises. The series of burglaries caused significant concern among the local business community and community groups.

During the court hearing, prosecutors detailed the extent of the commercial burglaries and opposed bail, citing the risk of further offending. The judge agreed with the prosecution, refusing bail and remanding the accused in custody. Police continue to compile evidence, including forensic analysis and CCTV footage from the affected locations, as the legal proceedings move forward.
