Detroit father who allegedly forced 11-year-old daughter to aid in home invasions, car thefts is charged
DETROIT, MI โ A Detroit father is facing severe criminal charges after allegedly forcing his 11-year-old daughter to assist him in a series of home invasions and auto thefts. The case has sparked outrage across the community and highlighted issues of child exploitation in criminal activities.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced the charges following a detailed investigation into a string of local break-ins. According to court documents, the father used the young girl to gain entry to tight spaces and assist in scouting target properties.
Coercion and Criminal Charges
Investigators allege that the defendant pressured his daughter into helping him bypass security doors and windows. In addition to home invasions, the child was reportedly coerced into aiding in the theft of several vehicles across the Detroit area.
The father now faces multiple charges, including child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, home invasion, and receiving and concealing stolen property. The daughter is currently in protective custody and is receiving support services.
"The exploitation of a child by their own parent to commit serious felonies is deeply disturbing," prosecutors stated. "We will ensure that justice is served and that the child's safety is prioritized."
Legal proceedings are underway, with the defendant held on a substantial bond as the court prepares for the preliminary examination.
