Doncaster Burglar Jailed After Leaving DNA on Screwdriver at Crime Scene

DONCASTER, South Yorkshire — A Doncaster burglar who made a critical error by leaving a tool at the scene of his crime has been jailed for four and a half years after police matched his DNA on the discarded item.

The offender was convicted following a house raid in Doncaster, during which he broke into a residential property to steal valuables. However, he made a major "clanger" when he left behind a screwdriver that he had used to force entry. The tool was recovered by responding officers and sent for forensic analysis.

Forensic scientists successfully extracted DNA from the handle of the screwdriver.
