Downtown Bellingham Business Targeted in Break-In; Over $1,000 in Merchandise Stolen

BELLINGHAM, WA — A commercial burglary in the heart of downtown Bellingham has left a local business owner tallying the cost of stolen goods. The break-in, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 9, 2024, resulted in the loss of approximately $1,000 worth of store merchandise.

Bellingham Police responded to the business after the break-in was discovered. Investigators found evidence of forced entry at the scene. The suspect or suspects managed to bypass security measures, quickly gathering high-value inventory before fleeing the area prior to police arrival.

The theft has renewed concerns among downtown business owners regarding property crime and security in the commercial district. The Bellingham Police Department is currently reviewing surveillance footage from the store and surrounding properties in an effort to identify the individuals responsible.
