Drone Technology Helps Orlando Police Apprehend Rooftop Burglary Suspect

ORLANDO, Florida — The Orlando Police Department has successfully utilized drone technology to apprehend a burglary suspect who attempted to hide on the roof of a local retail store after committing a theft.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call regarding a break-in at a local business. Upon arrival, the suspect fled the scene and climbed onto the building's roof in an attempt to evade officers. Rather than conducting a high-risk manual search of the rooftop structure, the responding units deployed an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone).

The drone's thermal imaging and high-definition camera feed quickly located the suspect crouching near a ventilation unit. Guided by the real-time aerial footage, ground officers were able to coordinate their approach, access the rooftop safely, and take the suspect into custody without further incident or injuries.
