Elderly Woman, 96, Threatened with Hammer in Terrifying Bromley Armed Burglary

An investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan Police after a 96-year-old woman was targeted in a terrifying armed burglary at her home in Bromley, Greater London. The shocking incident, which occurred on May 2, 2024, involved a male suspect who broke into the pensioner's residence and threatened her with a hammer before making off with her vehicle.

According to local reports, the intruder gained entry to the property and confronted the vulnerable homeowner. Brandishing a hammer, the burglar demanded the keys to her car, causing immense distress to the elderly victim. After securing the keys, the suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, leaving the victim physically unhurt but severely shaken by the traumatic encounter.

Detectives from the Met's South Area Command Unit are appealing to the public for any information, dashcam footage, or CCTV from the area that could help identify the perpetrator. Police have condemned the heartless nature of the attack, targeting one of the community's most vulnerable residents in her own home.
