Erie police seek suspects after pair assaulted, robbed at city park - Erie Times-News
ERIE, Pennsylvania โ Investigators with the Erie Police Department are searching for suspects following a daylight assault and robbery that occurred in a local city park early Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
The incident took place at approximately 2:15 p.m. on April 13, 2026, when two individuals were walking near the eastern edge of Frontier Park. According to police reports, they were approached by a group of unidentified individuals. Following a brief confrontation, the suspects physically assaulted the pair before forcibly stealing their personal belongings, including cell phones, wallets containing credit cards, and a small amount of cash.
Erie police officers responded to the scene shortly after receiving a 911 call from a bystander who witnessed the altercation. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the park, where both victims were treated on-site for minor injuries, including cuts and bruises. Neither victim required transport to a local hospital.
The suspects fled the area on foot immediately after the assault and were last seen heading southbound on Seminole Drive. Police describe the suspects as young males, possibly in their late teens or early twenties, wearing dark hoodies and athletic clothing. Officers conducted a search of the surrounding neighborhood but were unable to locate anyone matching the descriptions.
Detective Sgt. Christopher Miller of the Erie Police Departmentโs criminal investigation division is leading the case. "We are reviewing surveillance footage from residences and businesses bordering the park," Miller stated in a press briefing. "We urge anyone who was in the park around 2:00 p.m. on Monday or who saw anything suspicious to contact us immediately."
Community leaders have expressed concern over the incident, which occurred during a busy time of day when families and joggers frequently use the park. The police department has announced increased patrols in the park system over the coming weeks to reassure residents and deter further criminal activity.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact the Erie Police Department at 814-870-1120 or the detective bureau. Tipsters can remain anonymous if they wish.
