Family jailed for residential burglaries in Newcastle
According to an article published on 20 May 2025, a family of four has been sentenced to prison for a series of residential burglaries in the Newcastle area. The BBC reports that the group, identified as a professional gang, targeted three homes in April 2024, including the residence of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
The BBC states that the defendants, Valentino and Giacomo Nikolov, Jela Jovanovic, and Charlie Jovanovic, traveled to the region in March 2024. During their spree, they stole luxury goods, including jewelry, designer clothing, and cash, with a total value exceeding ยฃ1.2m. The court heard that the gang utilized a campervan as a base of operations and a vehicle to scout targets in Jesmond, South Tyneside, and Ponteland.
Valentino Nikolov received a 10-year sentence for conspiracy to commit burglary, while the other family members were jailed for between six and eight years. The prosecutor noted that the majority of the stolen property remains unrecovered. Mr. Isak stated that the intrusion into his home left him with a sense of unease.
