Home invasion leads to fatal confrontation in Selby

According to an article published on 22 August 2025, a father-of-two fatally stabbed an armed intruder during a violent home invasion in Selby. The incident, which occurred in March 2022, involved a group of six masked men who forced their way into the residence while the homeowner was present with his partner and two young children.

Nottinghampost reports that the intruders assaulted the man with a crowbar and their fists. In an effort to protect his family, the homeowner grappled with one of the assailants and used a knife during the struggle. Despite attempts by the homeowner and emergency services to provide aid, the intruder was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a significant manhunt, the remaining five members of the gang were apprehended within 48 hours. The individuals, identified as Alan James Hall, Daniel Welford, Max Jackson, Kallan Hunt, and Andrew Richardson, were subsequently sentenced to a combined total of 70 years in prison for aggravated burglary. The homeowner faced no legal repercussions, as his actions were deemed to be in self-defence.
