FedEx Warehouse Theft Scheme Costing $50,000 Investigated in Athens
ATHENS, GA โ A major theft investigation is underway in Athens-Clarke County after police revealed that a local FedEx warehouse facility was targeted in a sustained, two-month stealing scheme, totaling approximately $50,000 in lost merchandise.
Systematic Warehouse Losses
According to investigators with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the thefts occurred systematically over an extended period between August and October. High-value parcels, including premium electronics, designer apparel, and consumer goods, were targeted. Detectives are currently reviewing security footage, employee shift logs, and inventory manifests to determine if the operation was an inside job involving warehouse staff or if external actors managed to repeatedly breach the security of the facility.
Company Cooperation and Ongoing Probe
A FedEx spokesperson confirmed the company is cooperating fully with local law enforcement. "We take the security of our customers' shipments very seriously and are assisting authorities in their ongoing investigation," the company stated. While no arrests have been publicly announced, investigators are following several active leads and questioning employees who had access to the affected loading bays.
Anyone with information regarding the thefts or individuals selling suspicious goods in the Athens area is urged to contact the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
