Five Arrested After £8,500 Copper Theft from Commercial Premises in Preston

Five people have been arrested following a police raid linked to the theft of £8,500 worth of copper from commercial premises in Preston. The arrests follow a detailed investigation by Lancashire Police after a local business reported the break-in and subsequent theft of valuable industrial materials.

The burglary, which occurred at a commercial property, targeted large quantities of copper cabling and piping. Due to the high resale value of scrap copper, businesses in the area have been increasingly warned to secure their properties. Following intelligence-led inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at an address in the city, where they discovered copper materials matching the description of those stolen.

All five individuals were arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods. They are currently being held for questioning as police continue their inquiries. Lancashire Police have emphasized that metal theft has a significant financial impact on local businesses and that they will continue to carry out targeted raids to disrupt scrap metal crime syndicates.
