Five Women Arrested in $13,000 Detroit Lululemon Theft; Accused of Metro-Area Retail Crime Ring
DETROIT — Five women have been arrested in connection with a large-scale theft from a Lululemon store in Detroit, with authorities alleging the suspects are part of a coordinated retail crime ring operating across the metro area.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in March 2024, when the group entered the high-end athletic apparel store and quickly gathered and walked out with merchandise valued at approximately $13,000. Store staff alerted security and local police, who were able to track down and apprehend the suspects shortly after they left the premises.
Investigators believe that the suspects were not acting on impulse, but rather running an organized theft ring targeting premium retailers in the Detroit metropolitan area. Organized retail crime has been on the rise, and local law enforcement has stepped up efforts to target groups that systematically steal high-value goods for resale on secondary markets.
The five defendants face charges including retail fraud, conspiracy, and grand larceny. If convicted, they could face significant prison sentences. Police are continuing to investigate if the group is linked to other retail thefts in the surrounding suburbs.
