Florence Man Apprehended in Connection with Dollar General Armed Robbery

FLORENCE, South Carolina — A local man is facing serious felony charges after being arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a local Dollar General retail store, authorities announced on Friday.

According to the Florence Police Department, the suspect entered the retail store, displayed a handgun to the cashier, and demanded money from the register. The suspect then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, leaving employees shaken but physically uninjured.

Responding officers gathered physical evidence and witness testimony at the scene. Through rapid investigative work and analysis of local security cameras, detectives were able to identify a suspect. Within hours of the incident, police located and arrested the Florence resident without further incident.

The suspect has been booked into the Florence County Detention Center and is charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He is currently awaiting a bond hearing.

"We want to commend the swift action of our responding officers and detectives who brought this case to a rapid resolution," the department said in a release. "Protecting local businesses and ensuring the safety of employees is a top priority."
