Foster Avenue Fast-Food Strip Hit in Coordination of Smash-and-Grabs

CHICAGO, IL — Detectives are investigating a series of commercial burglaries after a smash-and-grab crew hit multiple retail dining spots along Foster Avenue on Chicago's North Side in a single night.

Surveillance footage reveals a group of suspects arriving at a commercial strip on Foster Avenue. The burglars moved down the strip, breaking the glass front entrances of Chipotle, Jimmy John's, Smashburger, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The break-ins were carried out within minutes, with the suspects running inside to grab cash boxes and registers before fleeing in an awaiting vehicle.

This incident reflects a wider concern for Chicago businesses facing property damage from smash-and-grab operations. "The physical damage to the property is often far more expensive than the cash kept inside our registers overnight," explained one store manager. "It disrupts our opening hours and impacts our customers and staff."

The Chicago Police Department has launched an investigation and is requesting help from the community. Authorities are reviewing surveillance video from the businesses to identify the vehicles and individuals involved.
