Fry the Coop and Two Other West Town Restaurants Burglarized Minutes Apart

CHICAGO (CHICAGO CRIME REPORTS) — A crew of coordinated thieves targeted three West Town restaurants, including the popular hot chicken spot Fry the Coop, in a rapid-fire string of burglaries early Wednesday morning. According to the Chicago Police Department, the break-ins occurred within minutes of each other, suggesting a calculated crime spree.

A Rapid Spree of Break-Ins

The burglaries took place in quick succession across the West Town neighborhood. At each location, the suspects utilized similar tactics, shattering windows or glass doors to gain immediate access to the cash registers. The thieves targeted Fry the Coop and two other nearby dining establishments, making off with cash drawers and causing significant property damage before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.

Caught on Camera

Surveillance cameras at one of the locations captured the dramatic moments as the suspects forced entry, grabbed the cash registers, and ran out. Police have reviewed the video, which shows multiple individuals wearing hoodies and masks. The footage is being utilized by detectives to identify the vehicle and the perpetrators involved in the spree.

Business Community Rebounds

Local business owners expressed distress over the recurring nature of these commercial burglaries. "It's disheartening to deal with the cleanup and the losses," said one manager, adding that security upgrades are becoming a necessary expense for neighborhood restaurants. Area Three detectives are currently leading the investigation.
