Gas Attendant Pistol-Whipped with Power Tool in Clifton Robbery; Suspect Arrested After Chase

CLIFTON, New Jersey — A gas station attendant was assaulted and injured during an armed robbery in Clifton, which culminated in a police vehicle pursuit and the successful apprehension of a suspect, law enforcement officials reported.

The incident began when the suspect confronted the gas station employee and brandished what appeared to be a firearm. During the encounter, the suspect violently struck the attendant with the object, which police later determined was not a conventional firearm but a power tool utilized to mimic a gun. The victim was pistol-whipped and sustained minor injuries from the assault.

After demanding and securing cash from the attendant, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Responding Clifton officers spotted the suspect vehicle shortly after the broadcast alert, leading to a pursuit through city streets. The chase ended when officers successfully boxed in the suspect's vehicle, taking the individual into custody without further incident.

The injured attendant received medical attention at the scene.
