Good Samaritan Carjacked and Attacked After Giving Ride to Gas Station in Oakhaven

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman who offered a ride to a stranger was assaulted and had her vehicle stolen at an Oakhaven gas station, according to the Memphis Police Department. The incident has prompted police to remind the public to exercise extreme caution when interacting with strangers.

The attack occurred on January 16, 2026. The victim reportedly agreed to give a man a ride to a gas station located in the Oakhaven neighborhood. Upon arriving at the destination, the male passenger suddenly turned violent, physically attacking the driver and forcing her out of her vehicle. The suspect then took control of the car and sped away from the station.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and the victim received medical attention for minor injuries sustained during the struggle.
