'Heinous' Pair Attack 85-Year-Old Man in Newcastle Home on Carabao Cup Parade Day
An 85-year-old man was subjected to a "heinous" assault in his own home in Newcastle, coinciding with the city's Carabao Cup parade celebrations.
The elderly victim was inside his residence when two intruders forced their way in. The suspects proceeded to attack the vulnerable pensioner before searching the property for valuables, leaving the victim shaken and injured on what was supposed to be a day of city-wide celebration.
Northumbria Police launched an immediate investigation into the targeted attack. Investigators condemned the actions of the perpetrators, describing them as heinous and cowardly. Forensic teams combed the scene, and detectives reviewed local CCTV and doorbell cameras in an effort to trace the suspects' movements during the busy parade day.
The attack has sparked widespread outrage across Newcastle and the wider Tyne and Wear community, with local support groups rallying to assist the elderly victim in his recovery. Police have renewed calls for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
