According to an article published by Somersetlive on 20 March 2026, a significant quantity of heavy-duty construction machinery was stolen from a builders' merchants on Hendford Hill in Yeovil. The incident occurred between 4.30pm on Saturday, February 28, and 7pm on Sunday, March 1.
Somersetlive reports that Avon and Somerset Police believe the burglary was carefully planned. Two individuals reportedly scouted the site on the morning of February 28. The offenders returned the following day, using a large HGV with blue, high-sided curtains to transport the stolen equipment. A small, dark vehicle was also observed following the lorry, which entered and exited the site via Lysander Road.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting witness enquiries. Authorities are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Hendford Hill or Lysander Road during the specified dates to come forward, particularly those with dashcam footage.
