According to an article published on 19 January 2026, a couple residing in Keilor Downs returned from an interstate trip to find their home had been ransacked. Nine reports that intruders methodically searched each room, stealing personal items including cash, keys, clothing, and passports. The victims also noted the theft of household goods, such as washing powder, and a sentimental necklace.

Nine reports that the burglars took steps to avoid detection by closing the window blinds during the incident. Despite the homeowners changing their locks following the initial break-in, the offenders returned to the property a second time. According to Nine, the burglars used an angle grinder to bypass a steering wheel lock and stole the couple's 2016 Hyundai. The vehicle was subsequently linked to another robbery in St Albans. The victims have expressed significant distress regarding the violation of their home and the loss of their property.
