Residential burglary in Houghton-le-Spring

According to an article published on 28 March 2025 by the Mirror, a burglary attempt took place at a private residence in Houghton-le-Spring on 21 November. The Mirror reports that a group of four masked individuals entered the property while the residents, including a pregnant woman and a young child, were present. According to the report, one of the suspects was armed with a machete.

The Mirror notes that police were called to the scene shortly before 7pm, but the suspects had already fled. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported and no items were taken during the incident. An investigation into the matter was launched by West CID.

Following the event, the homeowners have reportedly increased their security measures and decided to sell the property. The residents have also stated that they will no longer share details of their home location on social media platforms to ensure their future privacy and safety.
